SUMMARY:TOCNM Road Rally and In Person Meeting on the way to and in Taos
DESCRIPTION:TOCNM Road Rally and In Person Meeting on the way to and in Taos. We will meet at the Tesla Supercharger at the Journal Center in Albuquerque at 9:00 AM and get to the Santa Fe Supercharger at 10:00 AM to charge up to 90 to 100 percent and meet up with Santa Fe members. We will then take the High Road to Taos and stop off at the Picuris Pueblo outside of Penasco at 12:30 PM to see their community solar project and their new charging stations at the Picuris Travel Center.  \n\n\n\nUpdate and Clarification on the Tour\, June 13\, 2024: \n\n\n\nAn elder of the Picuris family passed away and was buried yesterday. This elder also happens to be the father of Wayne Yazza\, Director of Utilities and former Lt. Governor.Wayne was the one who was to make a short presentation about the Picuris vision of energy self-sufficiency followed by a tour of the solar site. Due to cultural protocol Wayne will not be able to do that and we also cannot enter the Church.Instead\, we will enter the village\, drive by the Admin Bldg. and see the Church from outside and proceed to the solar site that is 2.5 miles away. Abbas Akhil\, a TOCNM Board Member who has also been integrally involved in the project will substitute for Wayne and speak about it at the solar site. \n\n\n\nThen on to the highly recommended Sugar Nymphs Bistro in Penasco for a lunch on their patio at 1:30 PM.  \n\n\n\nThen on to Taos to the Sagebrush Inn for an exciting meeting meeting with Taos residents and members Dan Prichard and Jay Levine to tell us about their involvement with the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative KCEC and their implementation of Solar Systems and EV charging. We will then go to Dan Pritchard’s house to see his solar system that he installed on his own. Some of us will be staying over in Taos and you are welcome to join us where we may meet up on Sunday. \n\n\n\nThere’s are a total of 5 level 2 chargers in two locations in the center of town (more elsewhere). Also\, there are three 50 kW level 3 chargers (DC fast chargers) near the center of town. So you probably want to make sure you charge enough at the Santa Fe SuperCharger for a round trip to Taos which means 90 to 100 percent.  \n\n\n\nIt should be a fun event with fantastic driving and scenery as well as informative talks about what is happening on the road to and in Taos.
