We will start early at 8:00 AM at the Journal Center Tesla Supercharger in Albuquerque. We will drive out I40 West to Milan NM outside of Grants NM where we will charge up at the new SuperCharger there and have a breakfast/brunch at the Brunch Kiva Cafe. We will then drive north to Chaco Culture National Historic Park taking about two and a half hours to get there by 1:00 PM where we will tour the ruins of Tetro Ketl\, Kin Klesto and finally Pueblo Bonito.  \n\n\n\nNote the roads into Chaco are rough dirt roads and there are no facilities at Chaco itself so bring appropriate provisions and clothing.  \n\n\n\nShould be a fun time. Should be back by about 7:00 or 8:00 PM for a full day.

After the visit we will drive back to San Antonio\, NM for lunch at the famous original Owl Bar and Grill known for their Green Chile Cheeseburgers. We would then drive down to nearby Bosque Del Apache Wildlife Refuge\, home of thousands of migratory birds\, for a driving tour around the loop. \n\n\n\nWe will meet at the Albuquerque SuperCharger on Lange Ave near the Journal Center at 8:00 AM then drive to Socorro with a stop at the new SuperCharger there to top off before driving to the Trinity Site about 40 miles away. DESCRIPTION:TOCNM Road Rally and In Person Meeting on the way to and in Taos. We will meet at the Tesla Supercharger at the Journal Center in Albuquerque at 9:00 AM and get to the Santa Fe Supercharger at 10:00 AM to charge up to 90 to 100 percent and meet up with Santa Fe members. We will then take the High Road to Taos and stop off at the Picuris Pueblo outside of Penasco at 12:30 PM to see their community solar project and their new charging stations at the Picuris Travel Center.  \n\n\n\nUpdate and Clarification on the Tour\, June 13\, 2024: \n\n\n\nAn elder of the Picuris family passed away and was buried yesterday. This elder also happens to be the father of Wayne Yazza\, Director of Utilities and former Lt. Governor.Wayne was the one who was to make a short presentation about the Picuris vision of energy self-sufficiency followed by a tour of the solar site. Due to cultural protocol Wayne will not be able to do that and we also cannot enter the Church.Instead\, we will enter the village\, drive by the Admin Bldg. and see the Church from outside and proceed to the solar site that is 2.5 miles away. Abbas Akhil\, a TOCNM Board Member who has also been integrally involved in the project will substitute for Wayne and speak about it at the solar site. \n\n\n\nThen on to the highly recommended Sugar Nymphs Bistro in Penasco for a lunch on their patio at 1:30 PM.  \n\n\n\nThen on to Taos to the Sagebrush Inn for an exciting meeting meeting with Taos residents and members Dan Prichard and Jay Levine to tell us about their involvement with the Kit Carson Electric Cooperative KCEC and their implementation of Solar Systems and EV charging. We will then go to Dan Pritchard’s house to see his solar system that he installed on his own. Some of us will be staying over in Taos and you are welcome to join us where we may meet up on Sunday. \n\n\n\nThere’s are a total of 5 level 2 chargers in two locations in the center of town (more elsewhere). Also\, there are three 50 kW level 3 chargers (DC fast chargers) near the center of town. So you probably want to make sure you charge enough at the Santa Fe SuperCharger for a round trip to Taos which means 90 to 100 percent.  \n\n\n\nIt should be a fun event with fantastic driving and scenery as well as informative talks about what is happening on the road to and in Taos. DESCRIPTION:We will have a TOCNM In Person Meeting this month of April at the Old West Legal Tender Restaurant April 13\, 2024 at High Noon in the historic railroad town of Lamy\, New Mexico. It is a nice drive from Albuquerque going on the back side of the Sandia Mountains through Cedar Crest\, Golden\, Madrid\, Cerilllos or just outside of Santa Fe to the east. It is an old mining and railroad town with Amtrak still stopping there on its way east through the Great Plains. For those who want to drive up together we will meet at the Louisiana Tesla Supercharger at 10:00 AM to drive up the back way. \n\n\n\nWe will discuss the upcoming year with Earth Day\, Road Rallies to far locations in the state\, a TOCNM sponsored event with BBQ\, Tesla car drives and rides and possible coordination with Tesla Service Centers. Any of you from Santa Fe and north who want to join us do so either for lunch at the Legal Tender in Lamy at about noon and the Santa Fe Supercharger at 1:15 PM.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTesla Owners Club of New Mexico TOCNM Road Rally Albuquerque – Santa Fe Loop. Start at Louisiana Blvd NE Uptown SuperCharger at 9:00 AM. Take back mountain route through Madrid\, Cerrillos\, Lamy where we will have Lunch at the Legal Tender Restaurant\, Santa Fe SuperCharger. Then on to Los Alamos\, Valle Caldera where we may drive in but road may be too snow packed\, Jemez Springs\, Tesla Service Center near Bernalillo then back to Albuquerque. Should be fun. Probably get done by 5:00 – 6:00 PM. We’ll stop along the way to see interesting sights\, shops\, museums\, galleries.
